Drainage system with Lareter pipes: hydraulic efficiency and simplified installation

Project: New railway stations and stops for the Kiato–Patras railway line in the Rododafni section- Rio
Location: Patras, Greece
Products: Lareter PVC pipes Ø400–500 SN4Year: 2024 - present

Construction of a 28.8 km double-track railway line with new stations, equipped tunnels, and advanced technological systems, including drainage systems with SN4 PVC pipes along the Rododafni–Rio section.

Specifications:

Installation of 1,002 meters of slotted SN4 PVC pipes of the Lareter brand, intended for the drainage systems of the new railway stations.

Solutions Provided:

The drainage system involves excavating a trench, laying a concrete bed, and covering it with geotextile fabric.
On top of the fabric, a 3-4 cm layer of gravel is distributed, which facilitates sediment filtration and accelerates water flow toward the slotted SN4 PVC pipes by Lareter.
The collected water is then directed into drainage manholes connected to larger-diameter main collectors.

Advantages:

The choice of piping was driven by the project's technical specifications, which required high-strength materials with thick walls.Lareter was selected for the reliability of its jointing system with the integrated Forsheda gasket, embedded in the pipe socket during the thermoforming process.

This system ensures:

Permanent hydraulic sealing, compliant with UNI EN 681 standards;
Dimensional precision of joints, with reduced tolerances;
Simplified installation operations, thanks to the stability of the gasket and the elimination of manual labor.
